Machine vision is the art of extracting information from images in a useful and practical form. In many situations this should be an automatic process with no or little human interaction. Multi-spectral imaging systems open a new range of operations to be applied to extract information. With each camera system from Quest Innovations a software program Architector Player is delivered to control the cameras and store, retrieve, display and manipulate your images.
All Condor-1000 cameras use dichroic coatings to split the light spectrum in several regions. Since the separation is optical, the channels do not influence each other (as pixel coatings like Bayer patterns would). When the sensors are applied to the beam splitter, a filter can be placed in front of each sensor, such as a narrow-band color filter or a polarization filter. The default interface to connect to a PC or other external equipment is Camera Link, since this is one of the few interfaces that can handle the data rate output by a parallel imaging system. When a lower frame rate is acceptable, GigE is available. The Condor-1000 cameras are all based on the same technology platform as all other cameras. This means that the cost-effective dual channel camera actually uses the same hardware as its high-end brothers (without tuning it down). This also applies to the electronics present in the camera. Upon request all Condor-1000 cameras can be equipped with an image processing core to execute image processing tasks that you specify.
