The multispectral imaging technology is considered a major breakthrough in medical applications and diagnosis through imaging is becoming more and more important. The Artemis Handheld System is able to simulteneously show the color picture and the fluorescent overlay. This can be done without switching, making it a valuable tool in precision surgery and diagnosis. The Artemis Handheld Fluorescence Imaging System is designed and developed for open and minimally invasive fluorescence image-guided surgery.
- Sentinel Lymph Node Detection with ICG
SLN detection with ICG has the potential benefit of easier finding the lymph nodes, needing smaller incisions and speeding up the procedure. All axillary SLNs detected by γ (gamma) tracing are also detected with NIR fluorescence imaging. In the following cancertypes Sentinel Lymph Node Detection with ICG seems to have added vallue:
- Breast cancer
- Vulvar cancer
- Visualization Colorectal Liver Metastases
The main potential benefit is that in 12,5% of patients additional small lesions are found by means of NIR fluorescent imaging which where otherwise undetectable.
- Chemical Imaging
The pharmaceutical industry is another medical area where quality assurance is of great importance. Chemical Imaging integrates conventional imaging and spectroscopy to attain both spatial and spectral information from an object. Chemical Imaging can provide a complete description of ingredient concentration and distribution in heterogeneous solids, semi-solids, powders, suspensions and liquids.
